Laguna Beach Dog Park and Dog Friendly Restaurants

Laguna Beach has always been an amazing city for dogs. From the dog park to dog-friendly restaurants, pet stores, beaches and trails, there’s always something fun to do with your dog in Laguna Beach.

The most obvious example of how much this town loves dogs is the Laguna Dog Park located in Laguna Canyon. Also known as “Bark Park” to many of the locals and pup patrons. This park is supported by Friends of Laguna Beach Dog Park non-profit organization. This large grassy area offers two fully fenced areas, one open to canines of all sizes and the other reserved for small dogs. This is a great place to bring your dog off leash to sniff, run, jump, chase and play in doggy heaven! Although it’s not very crowded during the day, you’ll often find more dogs later in the afternoon as more people get off work and on the weekends. There are sunny spots, tree-shaded benches, and large grassy areas for your dog to play!

There are also countless dog-friendly restaurants in Laguna Beach. My personal favorite is Madison Square Garden and Cafe. With all the seats located outside, you will almost always find people who have brought their dogs. This restaurant serves up wonderful, fresh meals, and if you’re bringing your pup, don’t be surprised if the staff here are very loving to your dog. It’s not uncommon for the owner to come out and share dog treats with the furry friends at every table. Additionally, this cafe sells unique decor and gifts, and you’ll find decorations hanging from trees, as well as sculptures and décor throughout the establishment. If you’ve never been, bring your dog and try the Madison Rancheros! There are also plenty of other dog-friendly restaurants in Laguna Beach with outdoor patio seating, including The Cottage, The Stand, Sundried Tomato Cafe, and Zinc Cafe, just to name a few!

If you’re looking for things to do outdoors in the city, there are plenty of dog-friendly hiking trails and beaches in Laguna Beach. If you’re looking for a good workout, take your dog to the West Ridge Trail and hike the top of the ridge. This trail is easily accessible from the Top of the World Park (Parque Alta Laguna) and dogs are allowed. The views from this trail are spectacular and since you are hiking a ridge the changes in elevation will give you a fantastic cardio workout with your dog! If hiking isn’t your thing, cool off by taking your dog to one of Laguna’s many dog-friendly beaches. Most city beaches allow dogs, just be sure to check the signs at the beach entrance for specific restrictions. During the busy summer months (June 1 to September 16), dogs are only allowed on the beaches before 9:00 am and after 6:00 pm But since the sun stays longer, there will still be plenty! plenty of time for your dog to play in the waves or run across the sand!

With so many dog-friendly activities and restaurants, Laguna Beach is a great city to live with your dog. If you’re looking for dog services in Laguna Beach, such as pet supplies, groomers, board and care, or veterinarians, there are many great services available in or near the city. You can also find several dog services that will walk your dog or even sit it at home while you’re away.
