If I were to describe the perfect laptop, it would be “fast, stylish, powerful, long battery life, plenty of storage, super portable and affordable.” Well, the new Asus UL30A-X5 is all that and much more. Most computer users would do just fine with the functionality of a netbook. Think of this new model from Asus as a netbook on steroids. It has a powerful Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a large 500 GB hard drive, a full-size keyboard, 4 GB of RAM, an HD display, and a long-lasting battery (up to 12 hours on a single charge).

Despite being an extremely functional laptop, the Asus UL30A-X5 is also extremely stylish. I especially love the black model. Instead of having the usual glossy black casing, this laptop has a sleek brushed metal surface that makes it look really expensive and exclusive. It’s also extremely thin and light, measuring just 0.98 inches thick and 3.74 pounds in weight. The keyboard has ‘chicklet’ style keys which look great and feel very comfortable to type on.

In addition to having an LED-backlit HD display (1366 x 768 resolution), the Asus UL30A-X5 laptop also comes with Altec Lansing speakers with SRS Premium Sound technology. Paired with an HDMI port, this laptop model would work well as a mini entertainment center. One of the common problems with laptops today is that they get hot easily, especially for users like me who often use the laptop for extended periods of time. For that, I really appreciate the Asus IceCool feature on this laptop model that keeps the palm rest cool even after hours and hours of use.
