Top 10 Gym Rules! Gym Code of Conduct!

In this edition of the top 10, we take a look at the do’s and don’ts for gym-goers. These simple but often overlooked and commonly forgotten rules will allow for a much more enjoyable experience the next time you head to your local gym.

1. SHARED TEAM

Since most gyms tend to be crowded during peak hours, be careful when using the machines. It’s very easy to take turns between sets on any team. When doing cardio, don’t spend more than 30 minutes on a machine.

2. CLEAN THE EQUIPMENT

There is nothing more disgusting than getting on a computer that has not been cleaned. Respect the equipment and other gym goers by wiping sweat off the bench, treadmill, or whatever piece of machinery you used. Sanitizing spray and paper towels are provided in most cardio sections.

3. CLEAN HYGIENE

Just because you can’t smell yourself doesn’t mean others can’t. When you train hard, you sweat and sometimes you smell bad. Deodorize before and after, and regularly wash your gym clothes after wearing them.

4. RESPECT THE SPACE OF OTHERS

This rule especially applies in the free weight section of a gym. People not only need their space to execute exercises effectively, they also need space in case something goes wrong. Keep your distance and don’t become a distraction when someone is in the middle of their set.

5. CLEAN UP YOUR MESS

Whether it’s an empty water bottle, paper towel, chalk, or wrapper, don’t leave trash lying on the gym floor. Always double check your work area and leave it in the same condition you found it.

6. BRING A TOWEL

When you go to the gym, you should always carry a towel or two with you. Most gyms provide towels, but it’s always smart to be prepared. One towel is for leaving and cleaning the machines and the other is for you.

7. PUT WEIGHTS

No one likes arriving at a rig they’ve been waiting for only to find out they have to take 360 ​​pounds of plate off of it. Also, no one likes having to search the entire gym for a certain weight. Replace your dumbbells, bars, and any accessories when you’re done with them.

8. DRESS CODE

People go to the gym to work out, not to look at you or anyone else. Superate yourself. T-shirts, shorts, sweatpants, and joggers are perfect options. Sports bras, undershirts, shorts, and sandals are not. Also, remember your indoor runners and lose your street sneakers in the locker room.

9. NOT A SOCIAL GATHERING

It is a gym and not a bar or restaurant. You are here to exercise, not to socialize with friends or pick up. Stay away from your cell phone, don’t strap down gear you’re not using, and try to stay focused.

10 VOLUME CONTROL

Nothing is more distracting and annoying than cell phones ringing, listening to other people’s iPods through headphones at full volume, the sound of weights hitting the floor, and excessive and unnecessary grunting and grunting. Remember, it is a public gym and not your base.

So respect the gym, respect others who use the gym, and most importantly, respect yourself and your fitness goals, which are why you’re there in the first place. Take care of your gym and your gym will take care of you.
