Take advantage of investment forums

Investment forums, like Bigger Pockets and CREOnline, are great places for new and seasoned investors to find out what’s going on in the market. For people who are new to forums, it is always a good idea to visit the websites and read the topics that interest you the most. Also read the forum rules and introduce yourself and get acquainted with other visitors. Some of them are regular members and are also usually the most knowledgeable.

Choose a forum that has been around for a long time and does not have spam comments. There should be people moderating the site and cleaning up any posts that don’t seem correct. Otherwise, you might find entries from trolls heading to forums to shake things up and create discussions between users and break the harmony between them.

As a new member of an investment forum, you don’t have to post, but it is the best way to meet other people and get your questions answered. You not only get an answer when you ask, but an entire page full of opinions, which you can use to determine what is the best investment decision for you at any given time. People also like to be able to answer questions and talk about their own experiences as an example to help explain why a particular investment is best done in a certain way. You can learn a lot and avoid beginner mistakes that could cost you a lot of money in the long run.

Once you have met many people on the investment forum, you may consider partnering with one or more people and combining assets, knowledge and skills in property acquisition. With multiple people looking for the most lucrative opportunities, you are much more likely to find the best properties. Also, consensus on which properties to buy will decrease the likelihood of a bad investment. If each individual made the decision on their own, they would not have other knowledgeable people to help judge every opportunity and avoid financial disasters. This is especially useful if you are a newbie or do not have sufficient funds to start investing on your own.
