Get media exposure for you and your invention

One thing that helps any inventor with a product is media exposure. The trick is to get the media interested in you and your product. The correct exposure can have a double success. The first is that everyone now knows about your product and wants to buy it. The second is that you are now referred to as an Inventor with a product. This exposure can draw other companies to you for product ideas to fit your line.

Contact your local cable network and find out if they have any local shows you can be a guest on. Local shows are always looking for guests. Contact your nearest public radio station. They want guests on the air. The best thing about them is that they repeat many interviews to fill the broadcast time. I did an interview with NPR that aired for 5 months at various times of the day.

Contact your state newspaper for an interview for the features section. Try to send a press release to magazines that fit your target market.

Your local television station can be a great asset. Talk to them about using you as a local expert they can contact for a quote when they publish invention stories.

If you have local small press newspapers that are free giveaways to the public, see if they want an interview. Contact your small business group in your area for other exposure opportunities.

Get t-shirts with your website and product on them. Submit some to the national radio shows. John Boy and Billy is a nationally syndicated radio show that is popular in my area. I sent them two t-shirts. They talked about my website for 3 minutes on air. They have an audience of 10 million listeners. I received 67,000 hits within 5 minutes of being mentioned on air. It cost me two shirts. Well worth the investment.

There are numerous ways to get exposure for free. You just have to be creative in your thinking. Use the same energy that helped you create your invention to get it noticed.
