Eye Exercises to Improve Vision – Throw Out Your Glasses Forever

Any part of your body can benefit from exercise. What’s the old saying, “Use it or lose it”? The eyes are no different. While eye exercises can’t cure cataracts or cure glaucoma, they can help in other ways. Fortunately, there are many eye exercises to improve vision.

The biggest complaint people have regarding their eyes these days is eyestrain. Many people spend a great deal of time in front of a computer every day. Some, like data entry operators or computer researchers, can sit in front of that bright screen for eight hours or more. When your eyes focus on a screen for an hour or more, the muscles that support your eyes can get tired, even when you’re moving. The same goes for people who spend a lot of time reading books, whether in physical or digital format. Over time, this could lead to a weakening of the eye muscles. So it’s a good idea to do some gentle eye exercises to keep those muscles working at peak efficiency. Here are four simple exercises you can do to improve your vision.

Exercise 1
Every hour or so, you should rest your eyes. With your eyes open or closed, move them from side to side several times. Then gently twist them in one direction, and then in the other. Try to form a figure eight on the side with your eyes. All of these eye exercises to improve vision will tone and improve the flexibility of the eye muscles. After completing this routine, close your eyes, sit back, and relax for three to five minutes. This should help alleviate eye strain and help you feel more comfortable when you return to work, a big part of maintaining and improving vision.

Exercise 2
A really simple and almost essential exercise for eye health is blinking. When we work on computers all day, we tend to blink less. This can cause the eye area to become dry. So just take a minute or two to blink, doing it every three to four seconds. You can do this while walking to the cafeteria or working at the copier. This is one of the easiest eye exercises to improve vision that you will learn.

Exercise 3
A couple of times a day, work on your actual vision by shifting it from near too far. Focus on your thumb for a few seconds, and then shift your gaze to an object on the side of the room that is farthest from you. Do this several times, alternating your focus with each breath, making sure you really focus on each point.

Exercise 4
Another useful exercise to work your “focus muscle” is to intensify the previous exercise by shifting your focus from something on your desk to something outside, preferably as far away as possible. Try looking at the zero on your phone’s dial, and then shift your gaze through the nearest window and up at a lamp in the building across the street. Again, make sure you’re really focused on each object, not just rolling your eyes from side to side.
