Common Cat Behavior Problems

The domesticated cat has evolved from wild animals and that is why your cat can sometimes have behavior problems. Litter box issues, spraying, and aggressive behavior are some of the problems cat owners may encounter. These problems can be very frustrating for even the most loving cat owners. Those reasons alone may cause one to take their cat to an animal shelter to only be adopted by an unsuspecting new owner.

Cats sometimes refuse to use their litter box. This could be due to a medical condition, stress, or if the box isn’t cleaned often enough. Aggression is another problem that cats can have. This could appear to be aggressive behavior towards another cat or towards its owner. Some cats bite their owners just to get attention. Some bite while you play with them because they haven’t learned that they can hurt you if they play rough. The spraying of male cats is a very annoying problem. This may be because they want to mark their territory or get excited if they even see other cats outside their window. Fumigation can also occur if you have recently moved into a new home and your cat is unfamiliar with its surroundings. Having new guests in your house or a new baby can also trigger this behavior. Discovering the cause of the problem helps to quickly resolve the misbehavior. Another common problem that many cat owners have with their cats is waking them up too early to interrupt their much-needed rest. Cats take a lot of naps throughout the day, so they may want to play with you when you’re trying to get those last few winks before your alarm goes off. A very easy way to stop this is to keep them up late at night playing with them so they get more sleep in the morning. After a couple of weeks they will be on their new schedule.

Most cat behavior problems can be resolved when you can identify why they are behaving that way. Having a stable environment for your pet and spending play time with it will help prevent problems.
