Combining ECM and BPM: Unleash the Potential of Agile ECM

What does the world’s largest operating hydropower plant have in common with Agile ECM? Started in 1971, the construction of the Itaipu dam between Paraguay and Brazil took almost 12 years to complete. The reservoir for the dam began its formation on October 13, 1982, when the construction of the dam was completed. The water rose has a staggering 330 feet reaching the gates of the spillway in just two weeks. The amount of potential energy, or energetic assets, that lay behind the dam wall was hard to fathom. People could enjoy the many benefits of the reservoir lake…fishing, boating, irrigation, and more. But was there a more tangible benefit?

In recent years, many organizations have successfully implemented some form of a document management system or content management system. Millions and millions of documents have been digitized, indexed and added to these systems, what we would call digital assets. These organizational assets, now present in the repository (or reservoir…), have improved business operations and efficiency for a number of reasons including: faster search and recovery, reduced costs, improved storage, disaster recovery , etc. But could there be even more benefits for your group? What if those digital assets could be harnessed into a true power source for your organization? Could that be transformational? Could that give you a competitive advantage?

That’s what we call Agile ECM… combining Business Process Management (BPM) with Enterprise Content Management (ECM) to truly empower your team and generate substantial productivity gains. When engineers installed generators on the Itaipu dam, they harnessed the power of its liquid assets and created more energy than 10 nuclear power plants that provide 19% of electricity for Brazil and 90% for Paraguay. wow!

What could turn on the generators of Agile ECM do for your benefit?
