Blink rate and you

Being fans of the Matrix movie series, when Matrix 3 was released a while ago, my husband and I went to see it. I enjoyed the movie, especially the special effects, until the big battle scene towards the end of the movie. Suddenly I found myself feeling so anxious that I had to leave the theater.

Of course, the battle was not scary. It was a typical war scene with many things exploding. What struck me was the speed at which the bright light effects were produced.

Blink rate is the term used to designate the speed at which the light turns on and off. You experience it every day when you look at your computer monitor, watch television, or are in fluorescently lit rooms. It can affect your well-being and cause health problems ranging from headaches to cancer.

However, none of these examples is a conscious use of blink rate. They are more in the line of side effects.

This phenomenon is consciously used by commercial companies to create the desired effect. For example, there are biofeedback tools that use slow speeds to calm and relax the user. Another example is a sophisticated security system that uses strobes to disable an intruder by disorienting and dizzy.

The blink rate is also used by the entertainment industry to enhance emotions. No, you won’t find strobe lights inside a movie theater. But you will find flashes of light, like those in a scene where things explode. It is especially effective in a theater where the screen is about a thousand times larger than your television screen. However, you will continue to experience the effect at home while watching television. Violent movies, action movie commercials, or anything else where adrenaline-induced emotional responses are desired will be fast-paced, stimulating, and raising your adrenaline levels.

Do you want to reduce your anxiety and stress?

The next time you watch an action movie or a commercial, pay attention to how you feel. Watch your level of anxiety or stress. Close your eyes and watch the rhythm of lighting on your eyelids. The faster it is, the more anxiety, fear and stress it produces in your body. This is a specific effort to influence by subliminally affecting your emotions for the sole purpose of financial gain.

When you realize how you are being influenced by this subtle yet highly effective technique that uses light, you can gain better control of your anxiety and stress.

By the way, your TV screen has a flicker frequency that induces a hypnotic trance. Seriously. Read about it at Edison’s gene by Thom Hartmann.
