Pokémon cards: the correct way to exchange them
There is a wrong way and a right way to trade Pokémon cards. Many people trade cards the wrong way and frustrate the person they just traded with, or end up distraught. This happens all too often, but most people don’t realize exactly why or how a bad trade occurs.
Whether the wronged party realizes they were cheated then or even 10 minutes later, they most likely won’t be able to make a trade, as most Pokémon card players won’t agree with that. . This is why it is so important to know how to trade Pokémon cards correctly.
If you abide by the following five rules of Pokémon trading, you’ll never be caught on the wrong side of a deal again.
1. Don’t Create Elaborate Agreements
By this I mean don’t trade 20 cards for 1 or 2 cards. Try to keep your trades 1:1. Some of the worst trades come when one person has an extraordinarily rare card and the other party offers several dozen not-so-rare cards for it. A person in this deal is bound to be scammed.
Now, obviously, there are some cards that are worth more than others of the same rarity, but the closer you can keep trading one card for one card, the better your chances of getting a fair deal.
2. Never feel forced
Don’t feel obligated to complete a trade; if you don’t feel comfortable about it, just take your cards and walk away. No one is forcing you to change your pokemon cards. Only do it if you feel good about the craft.

3. Request a second opinion
Ask one of your friends what they think about the exchange. The person with whom he is negotiating must do the same. This is a great idea to make sure you two aren’t blatantly missing out on something. You may have forgotten that a certain card has recently increased in value, making it an unfair exchange.
The more people who weigh their thoughts on trading, the more equal it will be.
4. Trade with people your own age
Some of the most lopsided trades I’ve seen occur when an older person trades with a younger person. The younger player often doesn’t realize the value of his cards, and the older player tries to take advantage of that.
If you trade with people your own age, you are much less likely to get scammed.
5. Be happy with the trade
Even if you have established fair trade, if you are not satisfied with it, then don’t do it! The fact that each of you get the same value does not mean that the operation must be completed. There may be sentimental value in your cards that cannot be offset.
Only complete the trade if you are completely satisfied with the proposed deal.
