More about grounding, NLP and learning difficulties

Ever since I learned that the practice of grounding is an essential factor in coping with learning difficulties, I never stop teaching people how to make it a part of their lives when I work with them. It’s free, side effect free, universally made, and unavoidable to deal with any learning difficulty. I have received a lot of positive feedback, as well as questions about grounding, so here is some more information on how grounding can help you, regardless of whether [or someone you know and are thinking of while reading this] have [has] learning difficulties or not.

Even if we don’t all know what grounding is, many don’t realize that they know what the opposite of grounding is, because they would never think of giving it a name. Being ungrounded is the feeling of being distracted, restless, unable to do anything, spinning aimlessly and busy in your head when thousands of thoughts want to be attended to at once. Stress is another way to stay grounded. Grounding is a feeling of calm in mind and body, a feeling of being one with ourselves, a feeling of being in control of everything, a feeling of being on top of things, being connected to our bodies and be clear, focused minds. Different names are used for grounding in different parts of the world. I’ve heard it referred to as grounding and centering, as well as grounding.

The grounding metaphor reminds us of the electrical system in our homes, and we know why we need the electrical system grounded. In exactly the same way we need to be grounded. Another useful point of view on grounding is from the practice of reflexology. Reflexology is based on the principle that all the main energy channels that run through our body and connect the internal organs end in the feet. So, to ensure that we can access the vital energy of our environment, it is essential that we have all the terminations of the energy channels in good condition in order to connect with the earth. [ = walk on healthy feet]. If a nerve ending is damaged, the flow of energy to that ending is blocked and the blocked energy hurts. Trying to connect a congested, painful nerve ending in our foot to the energy of the earth is like trying to put a plug in a faulty socket. [If something hurts in your foot, can you walk = connect with the earth properly?] On the other hand, have you ever noticed a soft tingling or a warm moving sensation in your feet? And how do your feet feel after a foot massage, a cold shower that stimulates circulation, a jacuzzi, a bath, a good sleep or a walk in the fresh air? Do you feel your feet revitalized and with a pleasant tingling? Does it almost feel like you can feel the blood flowing in your veins? Do you feel your feet lighter?

The connection of electrical equipment/appliances to ground is known as grounding/grounding. Protects equipment from electric shock, surges, short circuits and interference. Grounding protects the delicate electrical circuitry in our body from various types of interference from our environment. Grounding facilitates the reception of free electrons and a wide range of energies from the earth. Free radicals, which we pick up from our environment, are not healthy for us. We can overcome free radicals by using a high volume of antioxidants that have negative electrons, but are available to free radicals. The soil also has many negative electrons that are available to free radicals. But the soles of our shoes act as layers of insulation between the earth and our feet, and negative electrons can’t access free radicals. Of course, many people now walk around in high-heeled shoes, which is even less punishing!

Since grounding is a state of being at any given moment and not a constant, some people find that feeling grounded where appropriate is more natural, while others have to work harder to feel grounded. Then there are people who have been raised by ungrounded parents and therefore never experienced grounding so they don’t know what it feels like. NLP has 6 levels to deal with any situation. And these 6 levels also apply wonderfully to grounding and learning difficulties:

  • I have already described some examples of how grounding is applied [or does not apply] at the level of atmosphere
  • at the level of behavior You have already witnessed numerous cases of how people act when they are not grounded: they feel restless, act inappropriately, have tantrums, cannot concentrate, eat comfort, etc.
  • at the level of ability people know what and how it grounds them and what and how it grounds them, and how they can make more useful decisions in this area
  • from the people beliefs and values play an important role in grounding. If people have very unfounded beliefs [such as, for instance, that they don’t deserve to be alive, healthy, or successful]this will penetrate your
  • identity- who I am [and I don’t feel like me anymore… ]
  • And beyond identity, we are here on the planet and at some level we have chosen to be here…etc.
