How good is the new high-end Scalextric Pro Gt C1242 digital set?

The Scalextric pro GT C1242 digital set is its new version from 2009 that replaces the old world championship set. This time Scalextric has moved away from the fragile Formula 1 cars and has replaced them with four GT cars.

The set contains everything you need to start running for up to 4 people. With four manual controllers and 4 digital cars, all ready to race. Digital racing is a much better experience than the old analog racing you might have known as a child. With all 4 cars racing in two lanes and lane change controlled by a button on its handheld controller, it makes for an exciting driving experience for the whole family.

The track is the X3 layout, which is SCX’s second largest layout and its largest digital track. The set contains 2 lane change lane sections in an 8 lane extended travel figure. Another feature is a lap counter to keep track of who is winning the race … and a flyover that links the crossover section of the track.

Later this year there will be a 6 car power base available to allow all digital tracks to be upgraded to allow up to 6 cars to race at once, this will create more excitement with digital racing. Other features of the 6-car power base is that you can have ghost cars racing on the track, so you can race without friends. Detailed lap times are another feature of the new power base. We suggest that if you want to race 6 cars at once, we suggest that you extend the track as there will be little room to race without the constant distraction of endless crashes.

All Scalextric cars supplied come with working headlights and taillights, magnets installed as standard to help keep the cars on the track. The 4 cars contained in the set are probably the four best sellers during the past year with attractive liveries being the main reason for their demand.

Overall the Scalextric digital Pro GT game is the best value for money game you can buy from Scalextric, the game would cost over £ 450 if all items were purchased separately. With cars sturdier than the previous high-end set, this set is much better suited for younger drivers, allowing for a bit of the rough and tumble you’d expect with the fast and furious racing that a digital design provides. The set will be popular with older Scalextric fans and the younger generation. The digital aspect of the set will help keep you entertained for many hours, plus the option to add one of Scalextric’s track extension packs to the track to help spread the design theme to the available space. Another option could be to add the new Scalextric 6 car power base to the track to allow even more cars to race. We would recommend this game to anyone with money to spend.
