Characteristics of an ideal rehabilitation center

Drug rehab or drug rehab is a general term for the series of medical and/or psychotherapeutic treatment steps to overcome drug addiction. Different types of drug rehab programs are offered, including: residential treatment, local support groups, extended care centers, and outpatients.

In this article, I discuss the characteristics of an Ideal Residential Drug Dependency Treatment Center. Because of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Principles for Effective Drug Addiction Treatment, my experience working with people who engage in addictive behaviors, and my study of rehab centers around the world, a center for Ideal residential treatment for drug addiction has three characteristics:

  1. Problem resolution
  2. Variety of programs
  3. effective support

Problem resolution

The first step on the path to getting rid of addiction is problem solving. The fact that no two people are exactly alike, they have different bodies, beliefs, values, feelings, behaviors and environments.

Consequently, they will have different treatments.

Each get rid of addiction plan is custom tailored to fit the individual characteristics of each client.

Each person’s addiction is a particular problem that needs a unique solution.

Each person who engages in addictive behaviors is a unique individual, and successfully breaking addiction depends on a personalized plan strategy.

Entering a recovery program with your eyes closed and without solving problems is treading on the road to failure.

Variety of programs

Each rehab center that offers more variety of programs has more capacity than the center that offers only one program.

Characteristics of an appropriate program including:

  • To know the plan of addictions, detoxification, recovery and prevention of relapses.
  • Be flexible
  • It caters to multiple needs of the individual.
  • be monitored
  • manageable
  • Learn coping tools and drug relapse prevention skills.

effective support

What is an effective support program?

An effective support program has two characteristics:

1. It has a complete program

To be effective, the support program must have comprehensive counseling that includes medical, psychological, social and vocational services. It is also important that this program be appropriate to the individual’s need.

2. Adequate duration of recovery

Recovery from addictive behaviors is a long-term process. The appropriate duration of support depends on the type of problem of the person, his needs and the formation of new habits. I have divided recovery from addiction into three stages; green stage, yellow stage and red stage.

In the green scenario people live in rehab. Very few people have relapsed at this stage.

When people return home from a rehabilitation program, the yellow stage will begin. If there is no effective support program, some people will relapse.

The red stage is when people are faced with stressful events. Without an effective support program, most people will relapse. Without an effective support program, your rehab program becomes an expensive joke! Because, not only will you waste your time and money, but your self-esteem will be damaged.
